I have had to cancel a sale due the item being damaged the buyer is making threats via email saying he will send his brother to my door
Oct 12, 2012 09:36 PM

I had a car for sale which finished and was sold earlier this week the winning bidder was due to collect tomorrow I got up this morning to find someone has run into the back of it last night.I immediately contacted the buyer to let him know he asked for photos and called me a liar I provided photos of the damage and have heard no more until this evening,I have just received a threatening email from him telling me I have to refund his train ticket he bought to collect the car and if I don't he will leave negative feedback and he will send his brother to my door as he has my full address. He has also denied my cancel transaction request so I can't get a final value fee credit I have reported him to ebay but am very worried I have children and am frightened for all our safety.

I take it the car wasnt parked on your drive last night then!

If your worried contact the police. As for negative feedback, well if the buyer cant have what was originally described he can leave what ever feedback he likes. As for the train ticket, that purchase was his choice.

Did you ask the buyer if they still wanted it,maybe with a discount for the damage.

have you been to the police to report the threat and take his address along . What would he have done if he had come to collect then changed his mind. Next time use ebay classifieds £14.99 to list no selling fees not sold untill you have the money in your hand.

No the car wasn't on a drive unfortunately and is no longer driveable so no good to the buyer as he was coming to collect from the other end of the country and drive it back hence the train ticket.

As for selling another car on ebay well never again !! How do I get his details to report this to the police ?

Hi,

Click on More Actions and then on 'view order details' and their details will be shown there.

You can request contact details through eBay and will receive a phone number and partial address.  Problem with that though is that they will also get a copy of yours!!

There's also a Guide here on dealing with abuse etc.:

When you say if I get his details he will also get mine does that mean I will be notified by ebay that he has requested my details as I haven't had any notifications ? He has told me he has my full address

Hi,

They would need to request the details through eBay via this page:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ebayadvsearch?_adv=1&_sofindtype=9

You would then receive an email with theirs.  They may not know that though.

Not familiar with selling cars, but if they did vehicle cheks could they have obtained your address that way?

If you have a payment address registered on eBay then that will likely have shown on the end of auction email they received.

surely if he was coming to collect the car from you tommorow then he already has your address anyway???

just message the buyer saying that you do not respond to threats and that if he carries on you will contact the police immediately.then dont get into any more conversation or argument with him.

dont let these idiots frighten you, they are usually all mouth and no action.
