I purchased a ps2 with accessories on 10 days ago. I did not use the card I have registered in my paypal account but have been advised by my credit card that the payment has went through on the 10th. I received an e-mail from the seller stating that I tried to con him as he has not received the payment yet so where is the money and who do I contact to take this further. Does anyone know where I go from here as I am £132 down and it doesn't look like I will be getting my item?
Hi folks, I hope this is in the right section. Here is my situation which I have tried to describe as accurately possible - it's quite long!
About 2 weeks ago I purchased a DVD from an eBay powerseller based in The Netherlands (I am based in the UK). It was a Buy It Now purchase for £9.99 and (as with all DVD listings now) the P&P was 'Free'. I paid by PayPal immediately and he sent the item fine. When I opened it, I realised that the back description was in Dutch. As this was a gift for a friend I was a bit concerned. I went back onto the listing to find that he had included it in the listing description but in very small text and phrased rather ambiguously. I checked his Returns policy anyway, and he said he would accept all returns which were requested within 7 days.
So I asked him for the returns address so i could return it and first he tried fobbing me off, saying it was not really an issue and that the actual audio was still in english. Upon explaining that it was for a friend and asking again for the returns address again I had no reply for just under a week. Only upon reminding him again and asking quite firmly for the address did I get it.
So, I sent the DVD off the next morning (this morning in fact) packaged well as it had been received (still with original clear film around it untouched - so it was perfect for re-sale). I took it upon myself to pay for this return shipping cost MYSELF as I accepted it was my responsibility as I had only changed my mind within the 7-day cooling off period and that he had no responsibility to pay for this.
Once I had sent the DVD back, I messaged the seller just to let him know I had sent it off and to ask when I could expect the refund of my payment (of £9.99). His reply can be summarised as 'I will give you a refund when I receive the DVD back, but I will only refund you £7.99 to cover the postage and packaging'!
This baffled me for quite a while, until I realised that he was trying to keep the money he initally paid the Dutch postal services for sending me the item!
Now I realise that he cannot add a P&P charge to the actual listing because it was a DVD listing, but he should have taken the money to pay for P&P as a cut of what the final payment for the item was. I tried explaining to him that that money is not his to keep, and that neither of can have that back as it is with the post office.
He thinks he is losing out if he refunds my full payment of £9.99 and gets his DVD but that is in essence how we started before the transaction began. I'll have my £9.99 (but already £2 down for returning it through my own choice), he'll have his DVD which he can sell on again. But he feels this is not fair. Instead, he wants £2 and his DVD and expects me to have back only £7.99 (AND be another £2 down for paying for the return P&P).
I have persistently tried explaining this as basic mathematics but he just will not accept he is wrong. I am not the most experienced eBayer, but I am almost 100% sure that he cannot keep some of my money for the original P&P.
If you have read this far down, please could someone just confirm that I am in the right so I know for sure. The fact that he is a Powerseller and has a feedback score of over 11,000 baffles me and really makes me doubt myself. If I am wrong then I will feel quite silly, but I need to know for sure before it goes any furthur. I know it is only an argument over £2 but there is also the principal, as I'm sure you all understand.
im in a bit of a dilemma, can any one help?? i bought a chrome towel rail for £130 off ebay, over the moon with the item, unfortunately the work in my house carried on longer than i thought and i have only just been able to get it connected up(incase it got ruined during renovation work), anyway the item is totally faulty leaks rapidly from every joint. Problem is i did not keep the packaging and item number nor could i find in my ebay as its gone over the 30 days. i managed to contact the seller via their ebay shop and they told me to email them with pictures of the leaks, which i have and now they want the confirmation of purchase off ebay or my paypal account but i cant access the details as its over the time!!! im as sick as a chip! can any one help me, it did come with a 5 year guarantee apparently x x
I recently purchased a Tenor Saxophone, that was descibed as 'Serviced September 2009'. When the Saxophone arrived I could immediately tell it hasn't recieved a service recently, and emailed my concerns. I went to a well respected music technician and they have told me the saxophone is in a terrible state and needs hundreds of pounds spending to get it in a playable state. Just wondering where I stand on sending the item back, as they said they wouldn't accept returns?
why am i being forced to set a reserve price of at least £50.00, i have looked through reserve price costing and i want to set a reserve price of £14.99, this is supposed to be possible and cost me 25p, after filling in the listing of my goods i keep getting sent back to in red YOU MUST SET A RESERVE PRICE OF AT LEAST £50.00
If I buy something, I can leave Positive, Negative or Neutral Feedback and I get the chance to rate the seller on service etc.
If I sell something, I can only Leave positive feedback.
Whats going on here ?
Why can sellers not leave Negative or Neutral feedback for buyers ? We should be able to warn other sellers of bad buyers. if buyers can rate us, we should be able to rate buyers. But all the system does constantly, is remind me that I have several feedbacks to place and yet they are all non payers and I don't want to leave them positive feedback just to get them off my account.
All the feedback forum insists, is that I can leave negative and Neutral feedback for buyers. Yet the system does not have this function.
